Especially for food, the sealing of food packaging bags is one of the key factors to ensure its quality and safety. The non-destructive testing of the sealing of food packaging bags using the vacuum decay method can greatly improve production efficiency and the accuracy of packaging quality control.
On May 27, 2024, the review meeting of the two group standards "Flexible Packaging Sealing Test Method Vacuum Decay Method" and "Determination Method of Thermal Insulation Performance of Cold Chain Transport Packaging Boxes" organized and compiled by the China Export Commodity Packaging Research Institute was held in Beijing. Experts from relevant fields such as industry associations, production enterprises, application units, and testing institutions attended the meeting. The standard working group reported on the preparation process of the two group standards. The experts at the meeting reviewed the draft of the standard chapter by chapter and article by article, and unanimously determined that the two standards reached the domestic advanced level and passed the standard review.
The proposal of "Flexible Packaging Sealing Test Method Vacuum Decay Method" can be used to quickly, non-destructively and quantitatively determine small leaks, and improve the industry management level through quantitative management. At the same time, it can help enterprises reduce the waste of test samples caused by destructive methods, and has certain economic and social value.
The vacuum decay method is a non-destructive and quantitative method for detecting leakage of non-porous, rigid or flexible packaging. The vacuum decay method can more accurately simulate the packaging situation in the actual environment, and the vacuum decay method tester is fast and simple.
Test principle
The sealing of the package is detected by measuring the pressure rise (vacuum loss) of the package in the closed vacuum test chamber. The sample to be tested is placed in the vacuum test chamber, and the air between the packaged product and the measuring chamber is pumped out by the vacuum pump to produce a vacuum chamber less than 3000Pa (i.e. 30mbar) or lower. The sample pressure difference during the test is detected per unit time, and the leakage rate of the sample to be tested is calculated.
The proposal of "Determination Method of Thermal Insulation Performance of Cold Chain Transport Packaging Boxes" provides scientific research support for the development of the logistics industry and the reduction of agricultural risks. Its implementation can effectively enhance the core competitiveness of agricultural product operators, reduce the transportation time of drugs and reduce the risk of quality decline during drug transportation.
The standards working group will further supplement and improve the standards based on the opinions and suggestions of the review experts, formulate the approval materials for the standards as soon as possible, and ensure that the standards development project is released as planned.
